Jesus is arriving today too!
During Advent we talk about preparing for Jesus' arrival as a baby and we talk about preparing for Jesus' return in the future. But Jesus isn't hanging around doing nothing during these years in between.
Jesus is very much alive and active today. We may not see him in his resurrected body form at the moment but he's still offering to meet with us and to be deeply involved in our lives on a daily basis.
One of the Bible quotations we often hear during Advent is, "Prepare the way of the Lord!". In reality Jesus approaches us every day of our ordinary lives. There are lots of little things we can do to prepare to meet him here.
If we want to encounter Jesus, we need to put ourselves in positions that make us 'tuned in' to him and 'attentive' to him. We need to make ourselves open to being taught by him, open to hearing him, and open to receiving what he wants to give us.
Jesus can't come to us if we've put a closed door in his face. He says, "Behold I stand at the door and knock" (Revelation 3:20).
This whole blog is devoted to different creative ways in which we can tune in to God and be attentive to God. Is there a way of opening up to God that would work well for you that you haven't seen suggested on this blog?
