Have you ever been taught or accompanied by a wise person? How does it feel to learn from or to be supported by such a person?

There is something very reassuring and comforting about God's wisdom. We can trust God's loving motivations and we can trust that even when we don't understand what's going on, God has everyone's best interests at heart. God does things with perfect timing. God does things in just the right way. God is very fair and understanding. God is very well balanced and un-rushed. There is a beauty about how God plans things and makes them pan out.

Jesus was and is full of God's wisdom. In fact you could say Jesus is the wisdom of God in living form. You could also say that Jesus is the Word that comes out from God's mouth.

Isaiah prophesied of Jesus, "The spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and fear of the Lord." (Isaiah 11:2-3)

How do you feel you've benefited from Jesus' wisdom in the past?

In what ways do you need Jesus' wisdom in your own life in the coming months?

Where is God's wisdom most needed in our present world?

Advent antiphon for 17th December:

O Wisdom,
coming forth from the mouth of the Most High,
reaching from one end to the other mightily,
and sweetly ordering all things:
Come and teach us the way of prudence.
